No room in Lexus for suspected TV thieves

By Bill Lindelof

Thieves were thwarted by the size of a TV during a daylight burglary in Sacramento, leaving a stolen television at the curb when it would not fit in the getaway car.

Sacramento police said burglars entered a home around 4 p.m. Sunday on Sedley Court in North Laguna through a backyard window, making off with a television.

However, when they tried to fit it into their Lexus, the TV just would not fit. Giving up in frustration, the burglars left the television on the sidewalk and drove away.

A neighbor watching the unsuccessful heist unfold telephoned police who traced the Lexus to a 19-year-old man.

The man, who police declined to identify, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property. They are still on the lookout for his two suspected accomplices.
