Two Sacramento men were arrested early this morning as they allegedly prepared to remove copper from Las Palmas School in North Sacramento, according to the Twin Rivers Police Department.
Twin Rivers officers responded to an alarm at the school at 577 La Palmas Ave. at 1:42 a.m. As they began checking the area, they heard two people on the roof, according to a Police Department news release.
The officers spotted the suspects, who began to run on top of the roof. The Twin Rivers officers requested assistance from the Sacramento Police Department.
Officers ordered the suspects off the roof and detained them at gunpoint, police said.
Arrested were Michael Locke, 39, and Tyrone Locke, 32.
Officer William Cho, Twin Rivers Police Department spokesman, said the men were in possession of burglary tools and told detectives that they were about to start removing copper from equipment on the roof when they spotted the police cars.
Michael Locke (below left) was found to be on parole and was arrested on suspicion of violation of parole, attempted grand theft, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy and trespassing, police said.
Police said Tyrone Locke (below right) was found to be on probation and was arrested on suspicion of violation of probation, attempted grand theft, possession of burglary tools, conspiracy and trespassing.
Both men were booked into Sacramento County Jail and are being held without bail.
