Sacramento County Coroner's officials have identified 30-year-old David Wayne Plumb of Sacramento as the driver who died after being ejected from his minivan in a two-car collision northbound on Highway 99 Saturday night.
The crash occurred south of Laguna Boulevard in the northbound lanes in Elk Grove about 7:20 p.m. Saturday after a vehicle entering the freeway lost control and struck Plumb's Dodge minivan, carrying seven passengers, California Highway Patrol spokesman Michael Bradley said today.
The minivan rolled on the freeway from the impact and the other car spun. The six occupants in Plumb's vehicle suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to local hospitals.
Bradley said police are investigating the case to determine what role the wet road or mechanical failure might have played in the collision before deciding whether to seek any charges against Amanullah Habib of Elk Grove, the driver of the other car. Bradley said drugs and alcohol were not involved in the collision.

The minivan driver was ejected and died at the scene.
Six occupants of the van, five of them children, were transported to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries, according to CHP Sgt. Kevin Kurker.
The crashed forced closure of the northbound lanes for more than an hour. Traffic eventually was allowed through on the freeway shoulder before all lanes were reopened at 9:30 p.m.
