The Sacramento County Coroner's office has released the name of a bicyclist who died Thursday evening in a hit-and-run collision.
She was identified as Helen Sotak, 35, of Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol reported that a 59-year-old Dorothy Lee Jeffries has been arrested in connection with Sotak's death.
Jeffries was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of hit and run and vehicular manslaughter. Her bail was set at $100,000, records show.
Sgt. Evan Williams of the California Highway Patrol said the collision occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on South Watt Avenue just south of Osage Avenue.
Officers were able to trace the owner of the suspected hit-and-run vehicle to an Elk Grove address. Other people living at the address told officers that the suspect might be at a bingo hall on Tech Center Drive and Mayhew Road.
Williams said they found the vehicle in a parking lot, and noted that it had damage consistent with the collision. The officers arrested Jeffries as she came out of the bingo hall, Williams said.
Williams said the collision remains under investigation.
