Roseville Police credit an alert neighbor for the arrest this afternoon of two burglary suspects in the city's Cirby Ranch area.
At 1:38 p.m., a resident called police to report four boys climbing over a neighbor's fence in the 1300 block of Stoneridge Way in east Roseville. One of the juveniles was seen carrying a baseball bat, according to a Police Department news release.
The first officer on scene confronted four teenagers leaving the house and detained one of them. A neighbor detained a second suspect. Both were taken to Placer County Juvenile Hall for booking on burglary charges.
Officers confirmed that a residential burglary had occurred and that jewelry, electronic items and cash were taken. They also learned that one the suspects who was not located may be armed with a handgun, officials said.
One of the two suspects being sought was seen fleeing in a silver Chevrolet Cavalier, while the other was believed to be on foot in the neighborhood.
Officers surrounded the neighborhood and searched for the suspect thought to be on foot but were unable to locate him. He was described as white, 16 to 17 years old, with blond hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Police say he may be armed with a baseball bat and/or a handgun.
A physical description of the youth who fled in the vehicle was not available. Police advise residents who see the suspects or the silver Chevrolet Cavalier, or who observe any suspicious activity to immediately call 911.
Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspects is asked to call Roseville Crime Stoppers at (916) 783-7867. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward if their information leads to an arrest.
