A West Sacramento man convicted of kidnapping and sexually assaulting two women has been sentenced by Yolo County Superior Court Judge Stephen L. Mock to three consecutive life sentences in state prison.
In December, a Yolo County jury convicted Theodore Wooten, 21, of multiple sexual assault, kidnapping and other violent felony charges for separate attacks on two women in May of last year. The total sentence is 56 years and four months to life in state prison, according to a Yolo County District Attorney's Office news release.
(An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Wooten was convicted of rape.)
Officials said Wooten forced his way into a West Sacramento motel on May 1, 2010, and tried to rape a mentally ill woman who is often homeless and living on the streets. When she resisted his attack, he savagely beat her. He escaped, and attacked a second woman on May 27. On that date, he forced a woman off the street and behind a business in the early morning hours. West Sacramento police caught him the act of sexually assaulting the woman after a concerned citizen called 911, officials said.
