Woman sexually assaulted in Rancho Cordova apartment, sheriff says

By Cathy Locke

Sacramento County Sheriff's detectives are seeking a man who broke-in and sexually assaulted a 50-year-old woman near Vehicle Drive in Rancho Cordova.

In the early morning hours Monday, a man entered the woman's apartment through an unsecured window, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. Once inside, he woke the sleeping woman and sexually assaulted her. He then left through the front door.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or light-skinned black man, in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, with a medium, muscular build. He had short, dark hair, shaved on the sides and slightly longer on top.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or the suspect's identity is asked to call sheriff's sexual assault detectives at (916) 874-5115, Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357, or send a text message tip by texting to 274637, then entering SACTIP followed by the tip information.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
