Davis police are searching for a man who they believe attacked two women in separate incidents Wednesday evening.
The attacks occurred approximately two hours apart. The first took place about 6 p.m. on Fifth Street in a light-industrial area east of Pole Line Road.
A woman was walking on the sidewalk when a man came out of the bushes and grabbed her, according to a Police Department news release. When she pushed the man away and yelled for him to leave her alone, the man stopped his advance and casually walked away.
The woman described the man as white, about 35 years old, bald, clean shaven, with blue eyes, and about 5 feet, 11 inches tall with a muscular build, police said. He was reportedly wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans.
The second incident took place about 8 p.m. in the area of Drake Drive and Sycamore Lane.
A woman was walking on Drake Drive when a man jumped out of the bushes and assaulted her by grabbing her leg and buttocks.
The woman fought back, pushing the man away. The man stopped attacking and ran eastbound on Drake Drive toward Sycamore Lane.
The victim in this attack described the man 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds, with a skinny build, and with white thinning hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt, blue shorts, white tennis shoes and white socks.
Due to the similar descriptions of the suspects and time frame in which the attacks occurred, police said they believe both assaults may have been committed the same person.
