Sacramento County Sheriff's sexual assault detectives arrested a 22-year-old former basketball coach on suspicion of sex crimes against a young boy.

Authorities said Melvin Flemings, who was previously employed as a basketball coach at El Camino High School, was expected to be booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of child molestation and meeting with a minor for the purpose of engaging in lewd behavior.

Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jason Ramos said Flemings' employment with the school was discontinued earlier this week, but his job termination was not related to the investigation.

Flemings is accused of sexually assault the minor when he coached the freshman boys' team.

Detectives say they believe that there may be other young men who may have been victimized by Flemings, and asked anyone with information to call the sheriff's Sexual Abuse Bureau at (916) 874-5070.
