The body of a man with his hands tied behind his back was found hanging from a rope in a tree over the Cosumnes River on Sunday evening, according to sheriff's officials.
Deputies are treating the death as a suicide.
The body was first seen by kayakers, who reported the discovery around 5 p.m. to rangers at the Cosumnes River Preserve in south Sacramento County, sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos said.

The kayakers accompanied sheriff's and Cosumnes Fire Department officials, who launched search boats on the river three miles south of Twin Cities Road off Franklin Boulevard. The area has heavy brush and is "not easily accessible by foot," Ramos said, adding that a half-hour search by helicopter failed to locate the body.
Investigators finally located the body around 8 p.m. about a mile east of the Cosumnes River Preserve Nature Center. They said the body wouldn't be removed for several hours because conditions on the river were too risky for rescue crews.
The Cosumnes River Preserve is located off Interstate 5 between Sacramento and Stockton. The visitors center is in the 13500 block of Franklin Boulevard.
Deputies are investigation the incident.
