Sacramento County homicide detectives have arrested two men in what had been the baffling slayings Feb. 13 of a young man and two teenagers on Malaga Way in Rancho Cordova.
Detectives arrested Francisco Ignacio Delgado, 20, and Juan Isidoro Aucencio, 24, at their residences early today, in connection with the deaths of Robert Corpos, 20; Richard Ward, 16; and Jamir Miller, 15.
The three youths were shot around 4 p.m. from a car that drove up alongside them while they were riding bicycles.
Corpos died at the scene, and the teens died after being taken to a hospital.
Both arrested men are expected to be charged with three counts of murder, in connection with the deaths of Robert Corpos, 20; Richard Ward, 16; and Jamir Miller, 15.
Sheriff's officials have not publicly identified a suspected motive in the shootings, which disrupted a shady street on a Sunday afternoon.
Corpos was identified as a validated gang member, said Deputy Jason Ramos, spokesman for the Sheriff's Department. The two suspects did not have previous contacts, he said.
One resident reported coming home that Sunday to find the bodies on his front lawn, a gun at their side.
Others reported hearing just a few shots, suggesting to authorities that it was a targeted shooting, but they were initially stymied in trying to determine what had happened and why.
The slayings led to large gatherings of students and neighbors at the site, as residents and friends sought answers
The Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau, Special Enforcement Detail, and Gang Suppression Unit assisted in the arrests.
Detectives also recovered a 1999 Saturn they believe was used in the crime.
Authorities are delaying release of booking photos until they can see whether possible witnesses - who were around at the time of the crime - can identify them.
