A former special education teacher at Will C. Wood Middle School in Sacramento has been indicted by a federal grand jury for receipt and possession of child pornography.
Mark Allen Cline, 45, of Stockton, appeared for arraignment Monday morning in Sacramento before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gregory G. Hollows. Cline pleaded not guilty.
Cline was taken into custody pending a detention hearing, according to a federal Department of Justice news release.
He was initially charged with possession of child pornography by the San Joaquin County District Attorney's Office before the federal grand jury returned its two-count indictment. The grand jury indicted him for receipt and possession of child pornography, and for possession of child pornography.
Cline was arrested Dec. 22 at his home after San Joaquin County sheriff's deputies found child pornography on his computer, a sheriff's department spokesman told The Bee in January.
Anyone with information about the case should call San Joaquin County Sheriff's Detective Terry Renberg at (209) 468-4400.
Three other men also were arraigned this morning before Judge Holloway on separate indictments charging receipt and distribution of child pornography. They are Jonathan Jerald Czubaszewski, 29, of Lincoln; Anthony Gordon Pollo, 22, of Lincoln; and Kenneth Warner Kilburn, 52, of Stockton. They were released with various conditions, according to the news release. All three pleaded not guilty.
The cases are the result of investigation by the Sacramento Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a federally and state-funded task force managed by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department with agents from federal, state and local agencies. The purpose of the task force is to investigate online child exploitation crimes, including child pornography, enticement and sex trafficking.
