The Nevada County Sheriff's Office is investigating this morning home invasion robbery and assault in Penn Valley.
The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at approximately 6:30 a.m. from a teenager saying his mother had been hit in the head with a gun, tied up and robbed, according to a news release from Sheriff Keith Royal.
The youth was also tied up during the robbery, a sheriff's spokesperson said, but both were able to work their way loose after the suspects left.
According to the report, three to four Spanish-speaking adults dressed in dark clothing, including ski masks and gloves, placed a garden hose through a window and turned it on.
When the woman went outside to investigate, she encountered the suspects, who forced her back inside the house, struck her in the head with a firearm and tied up mother and son.
The suspects first forced the woman to open a safe, from which they took jewelry, coins, titles and other items, according to the report.
The residence, in the 16000 block of Del Mar Way, was the scene of a cash burglary in July 2009, in which money was taken from an unlocked safe, the report said.
