A Sacramento Superior Court jury convicted Jonathan Lamar Perry Jr. today of second-degree murder in the July 21, 2008, beating death of his girlfriend's 4-year-old son, Jahmaurae Allen.
It took the panel more than two full days of deliberations before returning the verdict.
Judge Lloyd G. Connelly set the sentencing date on Perry for April 25.
Perry, 29, was charged in the case with killing Jahmaurae by twice throwing him against a wall and also violently punching him in the stomach when the boy wet his pants and refused to go to bed.
Jurors also convicted Perry of killing a child under the age of 8 by assaulting him and on a third count of child abuse on Jahmaurae's younger brother.
Jahmaurae's mother, Tiffany Lacy, testified in the trial against Perry. She had earlier pleaded no contest to child endangerment charges by leaving her son with Perry.
Her sentencing is scheduled for Friday.
