A 43-year-old man has been convicted by a Sacramento Superior Court jury of sexual acts with a child who had been placed in his care.
The jury found Ronald Meza guilty on all counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child younger than 14 years of age, sex acts with a child 10 years old or younger and false imprisonment.
The 9-year-old victim was a relative. Because the victim's parents preferred that a family member watch their daughter rather than send her to a daycare provider, they asked Meza to watch her when she came home from school, according to a Sacramento County District Attorney's Office news release.
Officials said Meza molested the child for approximately one year until she finally told her parents.
Meza is to be sentenced April 8.
