Sacramento police continue to investigate the suspicious death of a baby in the Robla neighborhood, according to authorities.
Officers responded to the 800 block of Rood Avenue at 2:19 p.m. Thursday at the request of firefighters, who had been called to a home, said police Sgt. Norm Leong.
The 2-month old girl has been identified as Mirabelle Thao-Lo, according to a Sacramento Police Department release.
The baby had suffered facial injuries, and firefighters, who pronounced her dead at the scene, called for police because of the trauma to the child, Sacramento Fire Department spokesman Battalion Chief Niko King said.
People at the scene told authorities that an adult holding the baby had suffered a seizure and dropped the baby, King said.
Investigators are working to determine a cause of death, said Sacramento police spokesman Officer Laura Peck. The death is being investigated as suspicious because of "unexplained injuries" to the child, according to the police department release.
