Two people were arrested on suspicion of breaking into the Stanford Ranch Animal Medical Center late last night.
Rocklin police said that at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday officers went to the vet hospital at 2311 Sunset Blvd. after receiving a report of two people trying to break into the rear of the business. The burglars were reported to be dressed in black and attempting to pry open a door.
However, the burglars were not successful and left before the arrival of officers. They returned after officers went back on patrol, residents of a nearby apartment complex reporting that that the burglars were back at it shortly before midnight.
This time they got in. After burglarizing the place, they fled with a backpack, jumping a wall into the apartment complex and taking off in a grayish Toyota sedan.
A citizen who witnessed the burglary unfold followed the suspects and got a partial license plate description. A Rocklin police officer used his computer to find a Toyota with the similar numbers or letters.
That piece of police work led officers to a nearby apartment complex where a man and a woman were sitting inside a Toyota sedan. Some of the items that police said were taken from the veterinary hospital were allegedly in plain view in the car.
Taken into custody for suspicion of attempted burglary, burglary and conspiracy were Brianna Hauff of Rocklin, 20, and James Pryde of Roseville, 24. Police believe they may also be responsible for a Roseville burglary.
