A parolee-at-large wanted by Sacramento police was arrested today after falling 20 feet from an attic where he was hiding from officers serving a search warrant, a police spokesman said.
The man was wanted on a felony warrant for assault, said Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong.
Officers served a search warrant about 7 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 3100 block of Spinning Rod Way in the Willowcreek neighborhood of north Sacramento, believing he may be there, Leong said.
Occupants of the house denied the suspect was present, but officers believed he was hiding in an attic space. When K-9 units went to look for the suspect, one found the man and bit him, Leong said.
The suspect rolled away from the K-9 and fell through a section of the attic floor that was made of drywall. The suspect fell about 20 feet to the ground floor and sustained injuries that were believed to be non-life-threatening, Leong said.
He was transported to a local hospital.
Once the suspect is medically cleared, officers will book him into the Sacramento County Main Jail, Leong said.
The suspect's name was not immediately available.
