The Sacramento Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection with shooting five people - one of whom died - at a party in Del Paso Heights early Sunday.
Police said their investigation identified the shooter as 23-year-old Michael Walton, who was arrested at 8:20 p.m., in the 2500 block of Cottage Way. Officers said they stopped a vehicle in which Walton was a passenger and arrested him.
Police responded to the 3800 block of Fig Street about 3:30 a.m. and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, where one man in his 30s died, according to the police report.
Police said three other shooting victims transported themselves to the hospital.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
Investigators from the department's homicide unit and crime scene investigations units said all the victims were believed to be together at the party when a fight broke out, and the one suspect shot all five before fleeing the scene.
The department still urges anyone with information on the crime to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
