A: No one has been arrested in her homicide, according to The Bee archives and available records. (At left is photo of Neff released by her family in 1980.)
Neff, 21, disappeared after dropping her car off for service at a dealership on Florin Road near Franklin Boulevard on Oct. 16, 1980, The Bee reported.
Pheasant hunters found her body was found almost a month later in a drainage ditch off Elliott Ranch Road, approximately six miles south of the dealership. The badly decomposed body was clad only in a pair of socks.
Sacramento sheriff's investigators said Neff may have been killed on Oct. 16.
Q: Emmeline Lois Cayer was stabbed to death in Roseville on or about Dec. 3, 2004. Her husband was arrested for the stabbing. What happened to that case? - Kenny, Auburn
A: Joseph Phillip Cayer was arrested in connection with his wife's death and was undergoing mental evaluation when he died in custody Jan. 16, 2008 at age 84, according to the Placer County District Attorney's Office and death records.
He died of natural causes.
Emmeline Cayer, 85, was found stabbed to death in December 2004 in the back yard of her Roseville home, The Bee reported.
No motive for her slaying was ever made public.
