Sacramento parolee suspected of firing into occupied SUV

Martinez.jpgA Sacramento parolee, 27-year-old Jose Martinez, was taken into custody early today for investigation of possessing a firearm, discharging it at an occupied vehicle and drug possession, the Sacramento Sheriff's Department reported.

Sheriff's authorities said they were called to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Fulton Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. following a citizen's complaint of shots being fired at a sports utility vehicle.

The caller told deputies that the shooter had gone into an apartment unit inside the complex after the shooting, according to Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos.

Deputies contacted Martinez and placed him under arrest in connection with the multiple charges, including suspicion of parole violation. He was held today in lieu of $270,000 bail.
