A conspiracy to cash stolen checks in three counties has led to the arrests of six people, including three members of a West Sacramento family, the Yolo County Sheriff's office reported.
The suspected conspiracy came to light after a burglary March 23 at the Ceja Reyes Farm Labor Contractors office on Highway 13 near Knights Landing.
About 500 blank payroll checks were taken in the burglary, sheriff's officials said.
Based on information from employees at the office, deputies arrested two men at a residence in West Sacramento.
Deputies found a majority of the checks and additional evidence.
They arrested Jaime Fernandez Hernandez, 29, and Gerardo Ramirez, 20, on suspicion of receiving stolen property, burglary, forgery and possession of methamphetamine.
Follow-up investigation revealed additional suspects had been cashing checks in Sutter, Yolo and Sacramento counties.
More than 20 checks amounting to more than $10,000 have been forged and cashed, officials reported.
Deputies have also arrested Alejandro Joaquin Rodriguez, 19; his brother, Nestor Alfredo Rodriguez, 25; and their mother, Maria Sabina Rodriguez, 47, all of West Sacramento.
They also arrested Julio Ramirez, 22, of Sacramento.
All four are suspected of receiving stolen property, forgery and conspiracy.
