Brian Aguilar, 37, left, was arrested just before 4:30 p.m. today in downtown Sacramento, said police spokesman Sgt. Norm Leong. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of molesting a child under the age of 18, a misdemeanor, jail booking logs show.
His bail was set at $5,000. He was released from custody tonight, jail booking logs show.
Aguilar is alleged to have inappropriately touched a teenage female student, Leong said.
The alleged misconduct is believed to have occurred on the C.K. McClatchy High campus, Leong said, though he did not say whether it occurred during school hours.
Aguilar is a member of the teaching staff at the school and the director of the C.K. McClatchy High marching band, according to the school's website.
He has been on paid administrative leave since April 29, when school officials notified Sacramento City Unified School District officials of allegations against Aguilar of "misconduct" with a student, the district reported.
Aguilar remains on paid administrative leave, said school district spokesman Gabe Ross.
"We're going to cooperate fully with the police during their investigation and support them in whatever way we can," Ross said. "If the allegations prove true, then the district will take the strongest possible action."
