The Sacramento Sheriff's Department identified Marvin Barksdale, 22, as the gunman accused of leading the California Highway Patrol on a chase Friday, before holing up in an audio business.
Barksdale is a validated gang member, officials said.
The Sheriff's Department responded at 5:24 p.m. Friday to aid the CHP with a pursuit.
Barksdale is accused of failing to yield to a CHP officer trying to stop him for a traffic violation.
After being pursued to Arden Way and Fulton Avenue, Barksdale reportedly got out of his car at a red light and ran, holding a handgun.
After he entered Arden audio Installation on Arden Way, employees escaped and law enforcement surrounded the building and closed the street.
The Sheriff's Special Enforcement Detail entered the building and found Barksdale hiding above an office.
They found a loaded semi-automatic handgun wrapped in a shirt in the office.
Barksdale is accused of felony evasion of a peace officer, felony hit and run, brandishing a firearm and driving under the influence.
