Three arrested in connection with Arden Arcade graffiti spree

Aviles.jpgNava.jpgThe Sacramento County Sheriff's Department announced that three known gang members were arrested Wednesday in connection with a rash of graffiti incidents in the Arden Arcade area.

Dana Aviles (left), 18, Jesus Nava (right), 19,and a 14-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and participation in criminal street gang activity, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

Nava and Aviles were booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and the 14-year-old was booked at Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.

In response to a recent spike in gang-related graffiti in the Arden Arcade area, detectives with the sheriff's Gang Suppression Unit and North Division's High Impact Team conducted an operation in the area.

They contacted the suspects, who were identified by witnesses as the individuals responsible for spray-painting gang-related graffiti at several locations throughout the neighborhood. In addition, officers at the time of the arrest discovered evidence linking the suspect to the graffiti, according to the news release.
