Sacramento County jury finds man guilty of sex acts with child

A Sacramento County Superior Court jury has found a 40-year-old man guilty of committing sex acts with a child, the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office announced Friday in a news release.

Mahend Vikash was found guilty of 13 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, and one count of attempted lewd and lascivious act by force on a child under 14, according to the release.

The release states that Vikash sexually assaulted a male family member multiple times, including acts of oral sex and attempted sodomy, when the victim was between 6 and 8 years old. The victim reported the abuse when he was 13 years old.

Vikash is scheduled to be sentenced July 8 at 9 a.m., in front of Sacramento Superior Court Judge Michael P. Kenny. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
