The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is trying to determine whether an assault on a teenage girl Tuesday night in East Linda is related to an April assault on a woman in the same area.
About 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies responded to the Casa Del Este Apartments, 2273 North Beale Road, after a 15-year-old girl reported that she had been accosted by a man she did not know. The girl was sitting on the sidewalk in front of the apartments when she was approached from behind. The man grabbed one of her arms, but she was able to quickly twist away and run for help, according to a Sheriff's Department news release. The girl was not injured.
The man was described as Hispanic or light-skinned African American of medium height with a slender build, and approximately 25 to 30 years old. He was reported to be wearing dark clothing.
The Sheriff's Department is trying to determine whether this attack is related to a case in late April at the College View Apartments in the 2300 block of North Beale Road. A woman there reported that she was grabbed from behind after getting out of her car in the parking lot. She, too, was able to fend of her assailant, but she suffered minor injuries.
The suspect in the April attack was described as a dark-skinned African American man of medium height with a slight build, 25 to 35 years old, and wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call the Yuba County Sheriff's Department (530) 749-7777.
