The body of a Sacramento man who was reported missing while fishing Sunday has been found.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department reported that the body of a man pulled from the Mokelumne River about 6:45 a.m. has been identified as that of Michael William McBee, 61.
The official cause of death is pending an autopsy and toxicology results, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
Sheriff's deputies responded about 1 a.m. to a report of a missing fisherman in the 29000 block of N. Thornton Road in Thornton. McBee was last seen about 9:30 p.m. Sunday fishing on a dock near the bridge, officials said.
When McBee's friends returned to check on him, he was nowhere to be found, but his dog remained on the dock and his fishing line was still in the water.
A search of the river was initiated by the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Boating Safety Unit with the assistance of the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, Sacramento Fire Department's Water Rescue, the U.S. Coast Guard and a REACH helicopter.
