Two people found dead in Lincoln home after shooting reported

Lincoln Police report that two bodies have been found inside a home in the 1500 block of Fourth Street.

City spokeswoman Jill Thompson said police dispatchers received a call about 4 p.m. from a man who said he had shot his wife and was going to shoot himself.

Police arrived at the home within two minutes. When they arrived, officers reported hearing a pop that sounded like a gunshot.

Thompson said officers tried to make contact with occupants of the residence. When no one responded, they requested assistance from the Placer County Sheriff's Department SWAT team.

SWAT officers entered the house shortly after 6 p.m. and found two bodies that police said showed obvious signs of trauma.

Thompson said the identities of the two individuals had not been released, nor had their relationship or cause of death been confirmed.

She said four homes closest to the scene were evacuated and police set up a perimeter, making it difficult for some people returning home from work to reach their residences.
