A Yolo County jury has convicted a West Sacramento man of 36 counts of child molestation.
Nang Sam, 27, was found guilty last week of molesting the young victim over a six-year period, a Yolo County District Attorney's Office news release states.
The victim testified at trial that beginning in 2003, when she was 7 years old, and ending in 2008, Sam repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
After the victim reported the sexual abuse to an adult, a report was made to the West Sacramento Police Department, which investigated the allegations. Sam was arrested Feb. 3.
Detectives accumulated statements and cell phone information that confirmed for the jury the long history of sexual abuse reported by the victim, the news release states.
Sam is to be sentenced Oct. 7 by Superior Court Judge Stephen Mock.
