Coroner identifies car passenger from Citrus Heights crash

An 87-year-old man who died at a hospital Friday after being involved in a collision in Citrus Heights has been identified by Sacramento County coroner's deputies.

Philo Glen Toops of Citrus Heights was a passenger in a car that crashed at the intersection of Antelope Road and Mariposa Avenue about 7:30 a.m. A coroner's office website lists the cause of his death as undetermined.

Police said the car in which he was riding was struck at the intersection by a pickup truck. Police said one of the drivers may have run the red signal light.

The driver of the car and the driver of the truck were treated at the hospital and released, police said.

The accident is under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Jason Russo at (916) 727-5500.
