Mom goes after robber to recover son's bike

A boy who had his bike taken at gunpoint got it back when his mother confronted the thief.

The boy had his bike taken in the South Area about 5:30 p.m. Sunday by the armed robber. The robber rode off westbound on Mack Road and the boy called his parents.

His parents found the suspect near Mack Road and Franklin Boulevard. That's when the mother yelled at the suspect to give the bike back.

The suspected robber dropped the bike and took off running toward the Deer Creek area, according to a Sacramento police activity log. The parents lost sight of the robber so they returned home with the bike.

The suspect was described as a black, 13 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall, short hair, wearing a gray, zippered hooded sweatshirt and black jeans.
