Redding police have arrested three, including two juveniles, in connection with a string of crimes that came to an end with a stolen vehicle chase Thursday.
The incidents connected to the suspects began Aug. 2, when police interviewed a cab driver who was lured from his cab and attacked with tree stakes, according to a police press release.
The driver, attacked after he was called to pick up a fare near Sheridan Drive and Court Street, could not provide any description of his attackers.
However, police investigation turned up the names of four suspects: Antonia Clayborne of Redding, 19, Marcellous Tillis of Stockton, 19, and two juveniles, one male and one female.
Police attempted to stop a stolen vehicle in downtown Redding Thursday at 9:45 p.m., but the car fled with an officer in pursuit.
The vehicle pursuit ended near Interstate 5 and South Bonnyview Road, where two occupants of the car tried to flee on foot.
The driver was identified by police as the female juvenile sought in the earlier assault, and the passenger was identified as Tillis.
They and the two other suspects were interviewed and confessed to attacking the taxi driver in a robbery attempt, police said.
Police said the suspects also confessed to an Aug. 15 carjacking in Redding.
Tillis was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, carjacking and possession of stolen property.
The juveniles were booked at Shasta County Juvenile Hall.
The disposition of Clayborne was not reported.
