Teen dies in auto crash outside Folsom

A young woman died Monday night when her car left the road for unknown reasons and hit a tree south of Folsom.

Georgina R. Kovach, 18, of Pioneer, Amador County, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at Scott and White Rock roads.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident at 11:30 p.m. Monday. A CHP investigation determined that Kovach was traveling northbound on Scott Road approaching White Rock Road when she lost control of her car.

The car then left the roadway, struck a dirt embankment and went through a barbed wire fence. The car then partially turned over, the roof of the vehicle striking a large oak tree.

Kovach was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The accident is under investigation.
