Rocklin Police announced Monday three suspects believed to be involved in knocking out 20 city light poles are in custody.
Darrell Allen Cooper, 41, and Justin Bryan Liddell, 32, both from Roseville, were arrested Sunday by Placer County sheriff deputies. The deputies noticed the men had a large amount of copper wiring in the bed of their pickup truck and notified surrounding agencies, including the Rocklin police.
The two were held on drug and weapons charges. One or more also had outstanding warrants, according to authorities. Subsequent to the arrests, Rocklin officials identified the copper wiring as the same specific type used by the City of Rocklin.
Rocklin's investigation led to the arrest of a third suspect, Timothy Scott Maker, 29, of Roseville.
Between Sept. 1 and Sept. 13, approximately 20 city light poles were damaged after thieves ripped hundreds of feet of copper wiring. The cost of repairing the wiring was estimated at $40,000. No word on whether the recovered wiring can be reused.
