A business operator has been arrested after killing a man he told dispatchers was trespassing last night on his Gold River property.

Shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, a transfer call was received from the California Highway Patrol to Sacramento County Sheriff's dispatchers. The call came from a man at a business in the 11300 block of Amalgam Way near Sunrise Boulevard and Coloma Road.
The information from the call revealed that the man had told the CHP dispatchers that people were trespassing and that the businessman was making threats to shoot them. The CHP dispatcher also heard a gunshot ring out.
Officers rushed to the scene. A law enforcement helicopter first saw that there was a body on the ground at the business.
When officers in squad cars arrived they saw the dead man and Vigil standing outside the business with a shotgun on the ground next to him.
Vigil was detained without incident, said Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos.
He was later was booked into jail after an investigation. The shotgun is believed to be the weapon used in the shooting.
Detectives are not releasing information on why the person shot was on the business property.
