Sacramento Coroner's officials have released the identity of the man shot and killed Friday by a Sacramento Sheriff's deputy in Rancho Cordova.
The man is identified in the coroner's death register as Antonio Lopez Gonzalez, 36, of Sacramento.
Officials responded to reports of a man armed with a machete and a handgun.
Witnesses said the man was acting erratically.
Officers encountered Gonzalez in the 10300 block of Folsom Boulevard and saw a machete on his back.
When they contacted him, he did not obey deputies' commands, according to a release from the Rancho Cordova Police Department.
Fearing danger to officers, one deputy shot him.
Police found him in possession of a machete and a plastic gun.
Gonzalez died from his injuries at a hospital.
