Davis is celebrating Neighbors Night Out from noon to 9 p.m. today as part of its fifth annual event that brings residents of the college town together.
The event is part of a national program that invites communities around the country to come together with activities like block parties, potlucks, brunches, ice cream socials, and more.
While most communities hold their events during the summer, Davis waits until fall for its robust student population to return before the Associated Students of UC Davis and the City of Davis throw their annual event.
When Davis held its first event in 2006, 60 parties registered with the city for Neighbors Night Out. For the last two years, there have been more than 100 parties registered, and 100 have already been registered for this year's event.
