Sacto 9-1-1

A spate of gunfire, robberies and assaults marked much of this weekend, the Sacramento Police Department reported today.

One stabbing occurred in the 2000 block of Del Paso Boulevard about 30 minutes after midnight after two men argued, police said.

The suspect was described as a black man, in his 30s, 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds and wearing a red 49ers jacket. He fled on foot before officers arrived.

About 15 minutes later, officers heard gunfire in the area near Arden Way and the Business 80 freeway and tried to stop a motorist who they believed may have been responsible.

The driver, instead of pulling over, led officers on a short chase before the car spun out of control.

The occupants ran from the vehicle, which rolled off the roadway and down an embankment into dry grass. The car caught fire and was destroyed, police said.

After a police perimeter was set up in the area, three suspects were arrested.

Then about 1 a.m., police responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 block of Shrike Circle north of San Juan Road. One witness told authorities that an injured man apparently had limped back inside a home at the location.

Earlier in the evening officers had responded to the house after a complaint of a loud party.

When police arrived the second time, they found no shooting victim. But a shooting victim later showed up in the emergency room of a local hospital, and medical personnel called police.

The victim, it turns out, had wounds to his buttocks and thigh. But the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

The man told police he had arrived at the party and was walking up the driveway when a party-goer on his way out picked a fight. After the two exchanged words, the victim was shot as he fled into the house.

The suspect was described as black, age 17 or 18, with "chin hair" and wearing a tan/gray hoodie that covered part of his face.

He fled in a gray Nissan sedan with 4 or 5 other individuals.

Then just before 5 a.m. today, a man at 22nd and P streets was stabbed and robbed of his wallet and other personal items, police said.

The suspect was described as black, 6-feet tall, 200 pounds, in his late 20s and wearing a white and turquoise baseball cap, dark blue shirt, jacket and jeans.

The spate of crime was not much different on Saturday.

A business in the 3100 block of Longview Drive north of Del Paso Park was robbed about 10:30 a.m. police said. The assailant fired one shot into the ceiling and demanded money.

The suspect fled to a gold Acura sedan parked just outside the gates of the business, police said.

An attempted purchase of a gift card from Craigslist was the underpinning for a robbery near Arden Way and Heritage Lane just before 1:30 p.m. later in the day.

Police said the victim had met three men and that he was in his car trying to determine if the gift card was fake when two of the so-called sellers jumped into his vehicle.

One produced a gun and took the driver's personal property, police said. Then they jumped back into their own car, a dark green 1990s 4-door American made vehicle, and drove east on Arden toward Business 80.

The three suspects were described as black. The gunman was 20 to 30 years old with medium complexion, 5-foot-11 and 180 to 200 lbs with a fat nose and short black hair. The second suspect, also 20 to 30 years of age, had dark skin, was 5-foot-11 to 6 feet tall and weighing 160 to 170 lbs. He wore a light colored baseball hat and black pants.

The driver of the car was described as age 25 to 35 with dark skin, short hair and a skinny build.

About two hours later, shortly before 2:30 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a jewelry store heist at 7th and K streets.

Police said two people who went into the store were looking at watches and rings when one man grabbed a necklace from a store employee's hands and fled.

He was described as black, about 25 and 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6. He wore a black leather jacket, black shirt and blue jeans.

Q: What happened with the case regarding Marc McCormick? He was accused of videotaping a woman in her home and was arrested. He lives in my neighborhood and I see him all the time. Were charges dropped?

A: According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, misdemeanor charges have been filed against Mark William McCormick, alleging that he used a camcorder or other instrument to view an individual in a place where there was an expectation of privacy, trespassing and peeping.

His next court date is June 4.

According to Sacramento police logs, McCormick, 40, was arrested March 8 after the victim reported that a friend had entered her home without her knowledge to secretly videotape her.
