Land Park woman injured by Halloween night intruder

An elderly woman was taken to a hospital Monday night after she was struck by an individual who entered her Land Park home through an unlocked door.

Sacramento police Sgt. Glen Faulkner said police received a call about 9:10 p.m. from the family of a woman in her 90s who lives in the 1100 block of Perkins Way. She had called family members and told them that someone was inside her house.

Police officers and family members arrived about the same time and found the woman with a bruise over one eye. She said someone had come into the house and struck her.

Faulkner said the assailant was not a trick-or-treater, although the woman said children had been coming to the door trick-or-treating earlier in the evening. Police had not determined whether anything was stolen from the house.

Faulkner said officers canvassed the neighborhood, but were unable to locate a suspect in the midst of all the Halloween activity.
