Linda man arrested in gang-related shooting in Yuba County

A Linda man was arrested today in connection with what sheriff's officials described as a gang-related shooting incident Thursday.

Yuba County sheriff's deputies were called to the 1700 block of Hammonton-Smartsville Road shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday regarding a report of shots fired. They found an individual who reported being shot at by a person walking past the area, according to a Sheriff's Office news release. The victim was not hit.

Investigators were called to the scene and determined that the incident was gang related. The suspect was identified as Patrick O'Day, 20, of Linda.

Deputies located O'Day today at his home. Officials said a search of the residence turned up an unregistered handgun, believed to be the weapon used in the shooting, as well as items indicating involvement in a criminal street gang.

O'Day was booked into Yuba County Jail for several alleged felonies, including suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats and gang activity.
