A man sought in connection with an attempted murder in Oakland was arrested today in Sacramento.
U.S. Marshal Albert Najera announced that the U.S. Marshal's Service arrested 38-year-old Embrey Steven at his mother's residence in the 7600 block of 25th Street.
On July 22, Steven allegedly shot and severely wounded a 29-year-old man during a robbery in the 2300 block of San Pablo Street in Oakland. Steven then allegedly attempted to rob another individual a short distance away but ended up in a gunfight with that person and fled, according to a U.S. Marshal's Service news release.
Shortly afterward, officers found Steven severely injured after he wrecked his vehicle. He was found wearing a bulletproof vest and was in possession of a .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun.
Steven was not arrested at the time and fled Oakland after he was released from the hospital, officials said.
The Oakland Police Department issued a warrant for attempted murder and worked with the U.S. Marshal's Service to locate Steven, who was tracked to his mother's home.
Early this morning, members of the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force and California Highway Patrol K-9 units served a search warrant at the residence and Steven was taken into custody without incident, according to the news release. He was taken back to Oakland for questioning.
Officials said Steven is believed to have been involved in multiple shootings throughout Oakland.
