Sacramento police today said they have identified another suspect in the attack on a woman in south Sacramento that was captured on video and posted by suspects on a website.
Police earlier arrested 21-year-old Rasaan Zawadi in connection with the unprovoked attack.
Today, Sacramento police said that the other man on the video is 19-year-old Donnell Wade (photo right). Efforts by police to find Wade have not been successful and police are asking for help.
The Police Department on Wednesday was made aware of the video of an assault on a woman that had gone viral.
The short video was first posted on the Worldstar Hip Hop website and later Smoking Gun. It shows a woman walking back and forth in front of a coffee shop while a young man stands nearby. Behind the camera another person laughs.
At one point, late in the clip, the young man punches at the woman's face, leading her to chase after the man. Then another young man punches the woman, knocking her to the ground with his left hand. The man walks away.
Detectives assigned to the case learned that patrol officers had responded to an assault call about 12:11 p.m. Oct. 1 at Center Parkway and Mack Road.
When officers arrived, the assailants had left the scene, and the victim, a 42-year-old woman, did not want to pursue their prosecution, police said.
But based on the newly discovered video evidence of the assault, detectives sought to identify the people involved. With the video and tips that came in from the public, police said, detectives were able to identify one of the men seen in the video hitting the woman.
Zawadi was identified as the first suspect to hit the victim, according to a police news release. Wade is the second suspected attacker.
