A 22-year-old Sacramento woman was arrested today in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Monday night on the northbound Capital City Freeway.
Robert Wilson, 64, of North Highlands died after he was ejected from his motorcycle when it was struck on the right side by a Volkswagen Beetle that was negotiating through traffic. Wilson was thrown into the roadway where he was hit by a Mitsubishi Eclipse.
The driver of the Mitsubishi stopped and remained at the scene. The driver of the Volkswagen initially stopped, but fled in the vehicle moments later, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision occurred about 8:50 p.m. north of El Camino Avenue. The Volkswagen was found a short time later, unoccupied, on eastbound Interstate 80 east of Madison Avenue.
This morning, Sequoia Jones met with CHP investigators for an interview regarding the collision, but officials said she invoked her rights and refused to give a statement.
Jones was arrested and booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of felony hit and run, and vehicular manslaughter. Bail was set at $500,000.
