A Sutter County man found dead Saturday morning on the front yard of a home in Live Oak apparently stabbed himself to death distraught over a recent drunken driving arrest.
The body of Lakhbir Singh, 36, of Live Oak, was found with multiple stab wounds to his chest about 7:17 a.m. in the 9200 block of Larkin Road, about four blocks from his home, said Lt. James Casner of the Sutter County Sheriff's Department.
Next to Singh's body, deputies found a kitchen knife and a bicycle. There were no signs of a struggle, Casner said.
"We are not investigating this as a homicide at this point. There does not seem to be any foul play," Casner said.
An autopsy will be performed Monday.
Casner said Sutter County deputies later went to Singh's house, finding large amounts of blood in the home. Casner said it appeared Singh walked around the home bleeding profusely before climbing onto the bicycle and riding onto Larkin, where he collapsed.
Family members said Singh had been upset about a Wednesday arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence, Casden said.
