The Sacramento Police Department has arrested a 52-year-old man after receiving a complaint that he sent sexually explicit emails to a 14-year-old.
Phillip Colwell (pictured) is accused of unlawful communication with a minor, communicating with a child for the purposes of sexual contact and possession of child pornography.
Police received the complaint Oct. 17 from the child's parents and determined that Colwell knew of the child's age, according to a Police Department news release.
Posing as the 14-year-old, detectives continued contact with Colwell and set up a meeting with him. Officers and detectives followed him as he arrived at the meeting location under the pretense of engaging in sexual activity with a 14-year-old.
Colwell was taken into custody without incident. Officers found computer files with multiple images of child pornography in his possession, according to the news release.
