Update: Girls missing from school found safe in Placer County

Two girls reported missing this morning from Hillsdale Elementary School in North Highlands have been found and reunited with their families.

Officer William Cho, a spokesman for the Twin Rivers Police Department, said the two fourth-graders were found at PFE and Walerga roads in Placer County. He said the girls apparently walked there from the school after being directed this morning to go from one classroom to another. When they failed to show up in the second classroom, school officials contacted police about 10:35 a.m.

Officers searched the schoolgrounds, as well as the surrounding neighborhood and area parks. They were assisted by a California Highway Patrol helicopter.
