Authorities believe missing Natomas teen is in Yuba City

Sacramento police said that it appears that missing Natomas teen Sergio Jimenez is in the Yuba City area.

Pollice said Jimenez, 17, who has been missing for a week, was seen at a Walmart Wednesday night in Yuba City by a relative who then called the boy's aunt.

Sacramento police today showed store security video of the boy to the aunt who confirmed that it was her nephew.

Detectives are now in the Yuba City area looking for the teen.

"Hopefully we will find him soon," said police spokesman Andrew Petitt.

In addition, a vigil planned by the community for tonight has been called off.

Earlier Wednesday, police searched a drainage canal near Natomas Pacific Pathways Prep High School for signs of the missing student. Police said there is no evidence that Jimenez is the victim of foul play
