Vehicle hits student on motorized scooter in Folsom

A middle school student on a motorized scooter was hit by a vehicle this morning in Folsom.

The boy was hit at the intersection of East Bidwell Street and Glenn Drive around 8:30 a.m. The youngster was pinned until Folsom firefighters could remove him from under the vehicle and take him to the hospital.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. The boy was wearing a helmet when he was hit.

Initially, his injuries were thought to be life-threatening, police said. However, his condition was later upgraded.

Early police reports indicated the boy was a bicycle. However, police now say he was on a motorized scooter.
