Elk Grove police seek the public's help in identifying a suspect in the robbery of the U.S. Bank at 9230 Elk Grove Florin Road that occurred shortly before noon today.
The suspect (pictured) approached a teller and presented a note demanding money and indicating that he was armed. Fearing for her safety, the teller complied and gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, according to a Police Department news release. The man took the money and left the bank on foot. According to a witness, he was last seen walking in the parking lot toward the rear of the building.
A few seconds later, the witness saw a blue Nissan or Toyota sedan speed out of the parking lot away from the bank. Officials said they don't know whether the vehicle was connected with the robbery.
The suspect was described as white, in his late 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He had black hair, black-rimmed glasses and a dark colored, possibly fake, beard. The man was wearing a black jacket with a light-colored shirt and dark-colored pants.
